Boves, el Urogallo – Francisco Herrera Luque – 1972

 

Francisco Herrera Luque nació en Caracas, Venezuela, el 14/12/1927; falleció en Caracas, el 15/04/1991, fue un médico-psiquiatra, novelista, ensayista y diplomático. Entre sus obras destacan las novelas: Boves, el Urogallo, Los Amos del Valle y La Casa del Pez que Escupe El Agua.

Boves, el Urogallo, es una novela histórica muy entretenida que muestra una faceta por demás interesante de cómo, el resentimiento social y económico de José Tomás Boves, fueron la motivación principal de la acciones aguerridas, irreverentes, sádicas y sanguinaria de quien pusiera en jaque a las tropas del ejército patriota durante sus actividades libertarias.

Cuando observamos detenidamente el escudo de armas del Estado Anzoátegui, en la base del escudo, vemos una cinta que une dos cañones. En esta, la inscripción «Tumba de sus tiranos» conmemora la Batalla de Urica, librada en el Estado y en la que murió el realista José Tomás Boves, el Urogallo.

Una obra muy recomendada.
